How to update the driver for your printer, scanner and other external devices

1. Right click on the Start button and select Device Manager


2. Inside the Device Manager window look for your device (printer, scanner, fax, etc). After you have located the device you want to update the driver right click on the device name and select Update Driver. 

NOTE: sometime you will have to expand the list under a certain device in order to actually locate the device. In my example I had to click on the printer icon called Print queues in order to locate my Fax device.



3. Once you clicked on Update driver you will see another popup window. Choose the first option that says Search automatically for update driver software.


4. After you chose the first option, your computer will search for available driver that can be download and update. Once the computer is done searching it will automatically install the driver for you. If there are no driver to be updated, then you will see a screen similar to the one below.
