How to increase the virtual memory or the size of the paging file on your PC running Windows 10

  • Go to Start and type in Control Panel in the search box
  • In the Control Panel click on Advanced systems setting link


In the System Properties window, click on the Advanced tab and click on Settings in the Performance box.




  • Inside the Performance Options window, click on the Advanced Tab 


  • Click on the Change button


  • Uncheck the box that says Automatically manage paging file size for all drives. Click the Custom size radio button. Inside the Initial size (MB) box type in any size for the minimum and in the Maximum size box type in any size for the largest. You can also look at the Total paging file size for all drives box to give you a hint on how much you should increase. Once you are done just click on the Set button and click OK
