How to run TeamViewer on Windows and get the user ID and Password for remote help

For Chrome Browser

1. Go TeamView.com or click HERE

2. Go to the DOWNLOADS link and click on it


3. Once you click on the DOWNLOADS link it should take you to a download page. Scroll down until you see a screen like the one below and click on the Download now button


4. Once you click on the Download now button it will take to another page and will automatically prompt you to save the file. (Sometime the browser do not prompt you to save the program, if this is the case click on the direct download link at the top. See below)


5. Once the file is downloaded it should be at the bottom of the screen. Just click on the file once to run the program.


6. If you are running the program for the first time Windows will ask you if you want the application to make changes to the computer just click on YES


7. Once you click on the Yes button another screen will pop up like the one below.


8. At the top where it says How do you want to proceed? Select Run only (one time use). On the bottom where it says How do you want to use TeamViewer? Select Personal / Non-commercial use and click on Accept - Run button at the bottom right

9. Now you should see another screen. If you are running TeamViewer for the first time an Ad might pop up, if this is the case just click on the Close link at the bottom right.

10. After you click on Close to close the ad, you should see another screen that looks like the one below. 


11. On this screen you should see YOUR ID and PASSWORD box in blue. Give this to your IT support person and they will be able to login to your system to support you. Also make sure you DO NOT close this window because if TeamViewer is not running the person trying to remote will not be able to remote in. 

For Internet Explorer

1. Go TeamView.com or click HERE


2. Go to the DOWNLOADS link and click on it


3. Once you click on the DOWNLOADS link it should take you to a download page. Scroll down until you see a screen like the one below and click on the Download now button


4. Once you click on the Download now button it will take to another page and will automatically prompt you to save the file. (Sometime the browser do not prompt you to save the program, if this is the case click on the direct download link at the top. See below)


If the browser does starts the download it will be displayed at the bottom of the browser.


5. Click on the arrow next to the Save button and click on Save as..



6. Now you should see a popup window asking if you want to save the file. Click on Desktop and click Save


7. Once you clicked on the Save button, go to your Desktop, find the icon TeamViewer_Setup.exe and double click on it. Once you double click on it it should prompt a window and ask if you want to make changes just click on YES


8. Once you click on the Yes button another screen will pop up like the one below.


8. At the top where it says How do you want to proceed? Select Run only (one time use). On the bottom where it says How do you want to use TeamViewer? Select Personal / Non-commercial use and click on Accept - Run button at the bottom right

9. Now you should see another screen. If you are running TeamViewer for the first time an Ad might pop up, if this is the case just click on the Close link at the bottom right.

10. After you click on Close to close the ad, you should see another screen that looks like the one below.

For Mozilla Firefox

1. Go to TeamViewer.us


2. If after clicking on the link above and Firefox browser did not let you get to the website just click on Advanced


3. Now click on Add Exception... 


4. Now click on Confirm Security Exception and refresh the browser



NOTE: if after clicking on Confirm Security Exception and refreshing but Firefox browser still would not let you download TeamViewer, go back and click on Add Exception and Confirm Security Exception one more time. Sometimes you have to do it twice for it to work. After doing it the second time refresh the browser and FireFox should let you continue.


5. Once you are on the website locate the DOWNLOADS link at the top right corner of your screen and click on it


6. Now scroll down and click on the blue Download Now button

7. After clicking the Download Now button if Firefox display Your connection is not secure warning repeat step 2 to step 4 again to add the download link to the exception list. Again you might have to do it twice for this as well




 8. Now click on Save File button


9. Once you clicked on the Save File button, move the mouse over to the top right corner of the screen and click on the arrow pointing down inside the Firefox browser and you should be able to see your TeamViewer_Setup.exe file. You can just click on the TeamViewer_Setup.exe once and it will launch the program.


10. Now TeamViewer will take a couple second to load and you will be able to see a screen like the one I have below. Click on Run.


 11. Now click on Yes


12. Click on Run only (one time use) and Personal / Non-commercial use and click on Accept - run


13. If an ad popup but like the one below just click on the X on the bottom right of the screen to close it.


14. Now you should see another screen. This screen contains YOUR ID and PASSWORD. Give this information to your technician so he can help you with your computer.
